The Great Wall
This magnificent 5,000-kilometer structure was rebuilt and linked through many eras after Emperor Qin Shi Huang of the Qin dynasty first established it in 221 BC. The three most popular and closest sections to Beijing are Badaling, Mutianyu, and Simatai.
Forbidden City
The Forbidden City, probably Beijing’s most prominent landmark, is the former palace of the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties.
Temple of Heaven
This impressive Taoist construction is located in southern Beijing and was built in 1420, during the reign of Emperor Yongle. The temple grounds cover 2.73 square kilometers of parkland, comprising three main groups of constructions, built according to strict philosophical requirements.
Tian'anmen Square
Just opposite the front entrance to the Forbidden City is Tiananmen and its famous square, the world’s largest public square. It encompasses historical icons such as the Gate of Heavenly Peace, the Great Hall of the People, and the China National Museum.
Summer Palace
Listed on the UNESCO's World Heritage List, The Summer Palace was first built in 1750. Widely regarded as a masterpiece of Chinese landscape garden design, the natural landscape of hills and open water is combined with artificial features such as pavilions, halls, palaces, temples and bridges to form a harmonious ensemble of outstanding aesthetic value.
Beijing Olympic Green
The vast Olympic Green was constructed for the 2008 Summer Olympics. It will again serve as an Olympic Park when Beijing hosts the 2022 Winter Olympics. Do not miss iconic sights including the Beijing National Stadium ("Bird's Nest) and The Beijing National Aquatics Center or "Water Cube".

798 Art District
Populated with art galleries and shops, the 798 Art District was an area full of military-industrial factories in the 1950s. It has since been developed into an artists’ community, holding notable exhibitions since 2003.
Today Art Museum
Founded and managed by Chinese art experts, this is the first not-for-profit, independent art museum in China. It aims to promote Chinese contemporary art based on an international vision and a contemporary ideology.
UCCA Center for Contemporary Art
Located at the heart of the 798 Art District, UCCA is one of China’s independent institutions of contemporary art. The center welcomes more than one million visitors a year since its opening in 2007.
National Museum of China
One of China's grandest antiquities museums with up to 1.4 million valued artwork and artifacts , the National Museum is known for its collection of Qing era (1644 to 1912) imperial treasure and ancient porcelain and cloisonné ware. The historical museum also teaches about China's imperial history and modern history.
National Centre for the Performing Arts
Colloquially described as The Giant Egg and designed by French architect Paul Andreu, the arts center is regarded as China's top performing arts center with scheduled dance, opera and drama performances. The Centre, an ellipsoid dome of titanium and glass is surrounded by an artificial lake, seats 5,452 people in three halls.

Wangfujing Shopping District
With a long history, Wangfujing is conveniently located within walking distance from the Palace Museum and easily accessible by subway line 1 and 5. Anchored by large shopping malls, the street is a shopper's paradise, filled with shops, trendy boutiques and restaurants.
Panjiayuan Market
If you are shopping for a Chinese dining table, a Mao jacket, or other souvenirs, look no further than Panjiayuan market, which offers everything in one place in over 4,000 shops. Bargain hard.
